Ethel K. Denton, 89, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016.

Mrs. Denton was the founder of Girl Scout Troop 126 in Virginia Beach and a member of Cumberland Red Hats.

She is survived by her husband, A. David Denton; two daughters, Sheree Denton and Alice Haglaund; son, Alan Strbavy; two sisters, Willie Wagner and Bertha Daughter; two brothers, Robert Wise and Joe Wise; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Saturday in the Thomas Chapel United Methodist Church, Cumberland, with interment in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to make a special thank you to Centra Hospice of Farmville, Denise Thompson, her family and Lee Poor for all their care.
