Sweetheart dinner planned in Dillwyn

Happy birthday to Alan Gough, of Wingina, (Jan. 30); Kathleen McCoy, of Appomatox, (Jan. 31); Bonnie Worley, of Cumberland, (Feb. 2); and Rachel Mays, of Arvonia, (Feb. 4).
Happy anniversary to Luther and Barbara Davis, of Arvonia, (Feb. 1) and Jerry and Barbara Heifner, of Dillwyn, (Feb. 2).
Our sympathy is extended to the Branham family of Cumberland. George Branham, age 80, went home to be with the Lord Jan. 19. A funeral service was held Jan. 21 at Hatcher Baptist Church with internment in Jones Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery also of Cumberland. He will be greatly missed by all.

Spreading God’s Gifts, Inc., a local non-profit faith based ministry, will hold a sweetheart dinner at First Baptist Church on Main Street in Dillwyn on Saturday, Feb. 6, 5-7 p.m. Dinner will include ham, potato salad, green beans, roll, dessert and beverage for a donation (eat in or take out). Dinner music will be provided by Denise Bryant, of Buckingham. There will also be door prizes. This event is co-sponsored by Puckett and Shorter funeral homes of Farmville.
Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, and Jane Cooke along with Barry and Linda Miles, all enjoyed an afternoon meal at Golden Corral of Richmond on Jan. 18.
How to make snow ice cream: take ½ cup of heavy cream, 4 T. sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla; whip cream and mix in sugar and vanilla. Place snow in a large bowl and add cream mixture. If desired drizzle with chocolate syrup.
