Sunchase Apartments has opened a new leasing office in downtown Farmville to improve accessibility for Longwood University students.
According to Sunchase Property Manager John Johnston, The Hive is an extension of the current leasing office at Sunchase, located off of East Third Street in Farmville.
The new location is at 104 High St. — within steps on Longwood’s main campus.
“We want to make ourselves accessible,” Johnston said.
He said The Hive is in a location that promotes easier access for Longwood students who may not have transportation outside of campus.
“As far as The Hive goes, I think it’s going to be a great place for students to hang out,” said Senior Leasing Associate Lindsay Hagstrom. “It’ll make signing leases a lot easier and help them find an apartment they’re looking for in the Farmville area.”
Johnston said The Hive is first and foremost a leasing office, but will offer “a modern, fun environment.”
The Hive features Internet access, refreshments, televisions and couches for students to stop by and relax while checking out the new location, according to Johnston.
In the future, he said the office will feature events catered to students and the community, such as a townwide scavenger hunt, a parent’s suite and catered events.
“If we were gonna go to another place in town, we didn’t necessarily want it to feel like an office,” Johnston said.
He said The Hive will bring more excitement and fun with their new location, allowing students to be an active part in the Sunchase community.
Johnston said Sunchase has held a soft opening for The Hive; however, the official grand opening will be held on Jan. 18.
