Rev. Raymond Lee Maxwell

Rev. Raymond Lee Maxwell, 88, of Lynchburg went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the loving wife of the late Nancy Hanks Maxwell.
Born on June 25, 1927 in Appomattox County, he was the son of the late Benjamin Columbus Maxwell and Rosa Nichols Maxwell.
Raymond served our county during WWII in the United States Air Force. He retired as the minister of Northside Baptist Church with over 30 years of service. Following his retirement, Raymond pastored Glory Baptist Church for several years. He was a member of the Richmond American Legion Post 141.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is also preceded in death by 10 siblings.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Rachel Amos; niece, Elizabeth Jane Flood; nephew, Bobby Jo Amos; and devoted pastor and friend, Pastor David Critcher.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 29 at Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg, with Pastor David Critcher officiating. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.
