Police in Amelia County are seeking the public’s help in finding a 67-year-old woman who is allegedly being held hostage by Dana L. William.
Police consider William armed and dangerous.
According to the sheriff’s office, William, 43, held family members and friends of Woodell and Olene Brooks hostage on Poorhouse Road in Amelia on Thursday.
Woodell Brooks, Olene’s husband, was found dead in the woods near his home after William allegedly took Olene hostage.
“Also missing from the Brooks residence was a 2010 silver Dodge Caravan with Virginia handicap license plates 433114.
“This vehicle has a portion of the front bumper missing on the driver’s side with the rest of the bumper held by zipties,” a press release stated. “There is also … a piece of black molding missing at the base of the driver’s side rear view mirror.”
Law enforcement authorities are attempting to locate both Olene Brooks and William.
The sheriff’s office says that if William is seen, do not approach him, but contact the Amelia Sheriff’s Office at (804) 561-2118 or local police.
