On Jan. 21, the Third Thursday Book Club met at the home of Kay Whitfield, left. The speaker was Dr. Michael Lund, right, professor emeritus of English at Longwood University. Lund served in the U.S. Army as a correspondent in Vietnam, 1970-71, and he is the author of the book, “Route 66 to Vietnam: A Draftee’s Story,” as well as “How Not to Tell a War Story” and “Eating with Veterans.”  He has developed a writing program for military personnel, both veterans and active duty military.
