Charlotte County native Cortney Paige Forester, 25, has entered two guilty pleas to charges stemming from a domestic incident in Prince Edward County on Nov. 2, according to Prince Edward’s Commonwealth’s Attorney Megan Clark.
Forester was originally charged with abduction and kidnapping, abuse and neglect of children in reckless disregard, cruelty and injury to children and violating protective orders.
As part of the guilty plea, Clark said Forester pled guilty to violation of a protective order and parental abduction.
She said both charges are misdemeanors, and in exchange for her guilty pleas, the remaining charges were dismissed.
Dismissed charges included child endangerment, child neglect and protective order violation, said Clark.
Forester received 12 months in jail with 11 suspended on each charge, resulting in an active sentence of two months in jail.
“The suspended jail time will remain suspended if she keeps the peace and is of good behavior, undergoes substance abuse and mental health screenings, and has no contact with the victim except for terms set by the department of social services,” Clark said.
“The defendant is also placed on probation for one year.”
