FARMVILLE — The Farmville Town Council has adopted a Tourism Zone Ordinance — which is a required step to establish Farmville’s tourism zone.
According to council documents, “this ordinance is a required step which may allow private businesses to access the state financing program available to businesses in a tourism zone.”
A Jan. 13 public hearing was held prior to the adoption of the ordinance, which drew no public comment.
Town Manager Gerald Spates said the zone encompasses all of Farmville’s enterprise zone, including the Farmville Regional Airport and the town’s golf course.
The zone will provide incentives to eligible businesses while attracting visitors, fostering employment opportunities and stimulating travel revenue growth within the town, according to council.
