Director Wilkie Chaffin, of Pamplin, (center) was presented a plaque in recognition of outstanding service to conservation district employees by Deanna Fehrer, left, and Carl Thiel-Goin, right, at the Virginia Association of Conservation District’s annual meeting banquet held in the Omni Hotel, Richmond, on Dec. 8. Chaffin, who has served as an elected director on the board of the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District representing Prince Edward County since 2003 and is currently president of the VASWCD Education Foundation, established and endows an annual Dora Chaffin SWCD Employee/Dependent Scholarship in honor and memory of his wife, and endows three annual Chaffin Soil and Water Conservation District Employee of the Year monetary awards.
