Forward Willy Miezan of the Longwood men’s soccer team was named Virginia Sports Information Director’s (VaSID) All-State first-team, as announced Monday afternoon by the organization.

A redshirt freshman from Alexandria, Miezan finished the season second in the Big South with 13 goals and finished among the top three in the league with 27 total points.

Miezan, a second-team All-Big South honoree, was among the top 10 in the nation in goals scored. He paced the Longwood attack and was third on the squad in shots taken.

Miezan helped Longwood post a .500 record during the 2015 season with a 9-9-1 record, marking the most wins for the program in the Big South era and the most since the 2011 campaign.

The nine victories more than doubles the win total from the 2014 squad which captured four victories and fell to top-seeded Coastal Carolina in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament.

The Lancers, who advanced to the Big South Tournament for the second straight season, return 17 letter winners from a 2015 squad that finished the regular season fifth in the Big South standings.
