I would like to say congratulations to Powhatan Traveling U-11 soccer girls. They recently took second place in a Roanoke tournament. They won three out of four games with shutouts. They played in the rain, cold and mud and never quit.

They have worked hard as a team and the town of Powhatan can be proud of them.

I would also like to thank coaches Joe Parker and John Hansen for all their hard work and time they put in. It was also great to see the coaches invite the opposing and 1st place team to join them in a team picture. It was rewarding to see in this day and age, the excellent sportsmanship of both coaches and their team. Way to go, Fury!
