Matthews defeats Meek in District Three Race; Bryant, Bryan win

With all precincts reporting, Republican candidate D.R. “Don” Matthews Jr. has won with 52 percent of the vote, enough to take the District Three Seat on the Buckingham County Board of Supervisors.
Independent candidate Charles “Chuck” Meek received 47 percent of the vote.
Matthews garnered 255 votes to Meek’s 227.
In District Two, independent incumbent candidate Donnie Bryan defeated challenger Carolyn Anderson Davis, an independent, with 72 percent of the vote. Davis received about 28 percent of the vote.
In District Five, independent Harry Bryant Jr. won with 60 percent of the vote, compared to Republican Quentin Yoder’s 25 percent. Fifty write ins were cast.
Election results are unofficial until certified by the county’s electoral board.
