The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Farmville Chapter No. 45, will meet Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. in the Farmville/Prince Edward Library.

The October meeting of the Longwood Garden Club was at the home of Kerry Mosler with Pam Brumfield as co-hostess. In the Horticulture category Peggy Kelsey received a “blue” for her hibiscus.

Mrs. Nancy Currie and Ms. Jennifer Halladay were luncheon guests in the home of Mrs. Pat Smith on Tuesday.

On Wednesday Mrs. Nancy Pisano and Mrs. Jeanann Messarge were luncheon guests in the home of Mrs. Pat Smith.

Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith enjoyed having dinner at the Cruis-in Cafe in Keysville. They then went to the homecoming football game for Randolph Henry High School. Each student who is senior is recognized along with their parents as they assemble on the field during half time. The Smiths’ granddaughter Brianna is a senior who is a member of the school color guard.

On Oct. 29 Mrs. Flora Bolt and Mrs. Marie Self, of Scottsville, enjoyed going to Charlottesville and touring Monticello, home of the third president Thomas Jefferson. The weather was beautiful, and the day was great.

Mrs. Flora Bolt and Mrs. Frances Anderson attended the banquet for the Gospel Echoes on Friday at Concord Baptist Church Focus Center. They were the guests of Ms. Sharon Troyer. The gospel team comes once a year with lots of gospel singing and testimonies. The team is a prison ministry, and its motto is “Sharing Christ in Prison.” The chicken dinner was delicious.

Kyle Bolt took his son, Joshua and Jacob on Friday to the Main Street Halloween Party in Farmville sponsored by the Farmville Recreation Department. The boys had a good time.

Mrs. Flora Bolt visited Douglas and Betty Jean Bolt and their daughter Stacy on Sunday. Stacy was sick.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Alice Campbell, Julian Covington, Evelyn Shelton, Lena Rose Huddleston, Rebecca Goin, Billy Allen, Nancy Dickerson, Phyllis Jenkins Polhemus, Hilda Friend, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Special Blessing Mission group of Glenn Memorial Baptist Church met Monday week at the church to play bingo, have lunch and make plans for the coming months. Those enjoying the fellowship were Shirley Fulcher, Judy Mottley, Nancy Mottley, Shirley Mottley, Pat Horne and guest Pearl Fulcher.

Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church members observed “Remembrance Sunday” Nov. 1. There was a special time to remember those who were part of the church who died during the past year. This was a very touching and meaningful service.

Appomattox PE Presbyterian Church observed Pastor Appreciation Sunday Nov. 1. Mrs. Judy Bolt presented Rev. Chuck Klotzberger with a plaque for his pastoral care for the past five years. Miss Jennifer Bolt gave some words of wisdom as a thank you for his wonderful ministry.  His sister, Kathy Klotzberger, from Raleigh, N.C., was a guest. A delicious covered dish lunch followed the service.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church members will hold their annual stew Nov. 15 following the services. Steve Bolt and William McGuire are stew masters.
