BUCKINGHAM — A December 14 public hearing is set in Buckingham to begin eminent domain proceedings for a new solid waste site in southern Buckingham.

According to Solid Waste Supervisor Lyn Hill, the .83-acre site is along U.S. Route 15 behind the current Bates Market solid waste site.

According to a conceptual plan, the site would be gated and fenced, unlike the existing site. The site would include one additional household trash dumpster as compared to the existing one, and would include recycling containers and space for a site monitor.

Implementing the conceptual plan could cost about $109,000, Hill said.

County Attorney E.M. Wright Jr. told supervisors recently that the next step in the project is to hold a public hearing regarding the purpose of the property, which would start the eminent domain proceedings.

A defunct lodge owns the property, he said.
