HAMPDEN SYDNEY — Hampden-Sydney College has been named one of 50 great small colleges in which to obtain a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

According to the Online Psychology Degree Guide (ODP), Hampden-Sydney came in at number 31.

ODP said that each college was ranked according to a points system.

A total of one point was awarded for each ‘wow factor’ for small colleges’ undergraduate psychology programs.

Factors included the presence of master’s degree program, presence of doctoral degree program, research opportunities, distance learning opportunities, study abroad opportunities, internship opportunities, scholarship opportunities, affiliated centers and institutes on campus and related student organizations and societies — all pertaining to psychology.

H-SC scored a total of six points. These points can be attributed to the college’s experimental and physiological psychology labs, microcomputer lab, new developmental psychology lab and live animal labs, according to ODP.
