After defeating Prince Edward 55-6 and finishing their season as James River District champions on Friday, the Buckingham County High School Knights (9-1) secured the No. 5 rank in the VHSL 2A West region standings.

With the rank, the Knights will host their first playoff game on Friday at 7 p.m. against the Martinsville Bulldogs.

Martinsville (4-6) stands at No. 12 in the 2A West region.

This is the first state playoff round out of four leading up to the state finals. If the Knights win on Friday, they will also host their second playoff round.
