Hackney charged with embezzlement

FARMVILLE — A 51-year-old Farmville woman is facing a charge of embezzlement in connection with missing funds from Burger King.

According to Farmville Police Chief Curtis Davis, Tammie Hackney is being charged with felony embezzlement.

“On October 1… officers responded to the 1000 block of South Main Street to investigate missing funds from a business,” Davis said. “Officers developed information that indicated a possible embezzlement of the funds had occurred.”

He said that based on the investigation, Hackney, who had been employed by the business, was charged.

According to the Virginia General District Court Online Case Information System, the charge entails theft greater than or equal to $200 of value.
