Garland Trent Ranson

Garland Trent Ranson, 74, of Red Oak, passed away October 16, 2015. He was born April 17, 1941 in Buckingham County, to the late Bernice Gilmore and Nettie Victoria Robinson Ranson.

Garland was a retired self-employed contractor and a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Appomattox. He had many interests, but nothing brought him more joy than his children and grandchildren. They all had unique relationships with him and he made each feel like they were the most important thing on earth. This joy extended to his children’s spouses. He welcomed each into his family as if they were his own. 

Mr. Ranson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Peggy Ranson of Clarksville; daughters and sons-in-law, Suzette and Daniel Patterson of Wilmington, NC, Leslie and Peter Ferry of Vienna, Lori Ranson and Joseph King of Alexandria; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter Gilmore and Betty Jean Ranson of Florence, SC, Lyle and Jeanette Ranson of Washington Court House, OH; and grandchildren, Justin Trent Ranson, Ryleigh Elizabeth Patterson, Tyler Grace Patterson, and Connor Charles King. Garland was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John E. Ranson; and granddaughter, Madison Victoria Ferry.

Funeral services were held at Watkins Cooper Lyon Chapel in Clarksville on Monday, October 19, with the Reverend Don Wilson officiating. Interment followed at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Dillwyn, Buckingham County.
