The end of regular season-play for local varsity football teams is coming to an end and every team will be working hard to be in the winning column this week, improving their chances in the playoffs or finishing their season on a good note.
But, which teams will pull off the task of defeating their opponents and who will fall short of the goal?
All eyes will be on Prince Edward this week as the team hosts the Randolph-Henry Statesmen, who are currently tied with the Eagles in the James River District standings.
Buckingham
The Buckingham Knights have been playing game after game this past week, and winning all three games they played in a seven-day period has made the team exhausted
The Knights will have a bye on Friday and will rest up for their Oct. 30 game against Randolph-Henry.
Cumberland (2-4) vs. Central Va (7-0)
The Dukes suffered a rough 35-0 loss to Prince Edward last Friday and are looking to boost their season with a win against Central Virginia Homeschool on Friday.
Although the Dukes are not eligible for playoff contention, they will try their best to hand Central VA its first loss of the season. The matchup is new for both teams, so the Dukes will have to be prepared to adjust quickly to any type of offense
