The Buckingham Knights stole the number one ranking in the James River District standings after defeating the Bluestone Barons 42-13 on Monday night and winning 35-21 against Goochland on Friday.
The Knights led their entire game against Bluestone and took no mercy on the Skipwith team.
Rajheem Holman and Leon Ragland were key offensive players during that matchup, as both players scored two touchdowns apiece. Holman had a 58-yard touchdown run at the beginning of the second quarter and a 79-yard punt return near the end of the quarter.
Ragland scored both of his touchdowns in the first quarter; the first on a 6-yard run and the second on a 1-yard run.
Daniel Brickhill also had a 1-yard touchdown during the third quarter.
“The offensive line has been blocking better than all season long,” said BCHS coach Craig Gill. “The boys are doing good and the coaching staff is leading the team well, as they have been all season.”
Hunter Edwards ended the night with two two-point conversions, while Zach Baird had two extra points.
Buckingham will travel to Amelia on Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
“Things are going to be tougher this week and it will be a game that we have to bring our ‘A’ game too,” Gill said.
