The Chronicle of Higher Education’s “2015 Great Colleges to Work For,” has again chosen Southside Virginia Community College for inclusion. In its eighth year The Chronicle’s Great Colleges survey compiled responses from more than 44,000 people at 281 institutions (185 four-year and 96 two-year colleges). The survey was sent to over 114,000 faculty and staff across the country with an overall response rate of 39 percent.
SVCC was also recognized on the Honor Roll in eight categories: collaborative governance; confidence in senior leadership; facilities, workspace and security; job satisfaction; professional/career development programs; respect and appreciation; supervisor/department chair relationships; and work/life balance. These colleges are the best of the best. Those that make the Honor Roll are cited most often across all recognition categories, and grouped by enrollment size. (Small institutions have 2,999 or fewer students, medium ones have 3,000 to 9,999, and large ones have 10,000 or more. Size categories were determined by total enrollment, while enrollment figures are full-time-equivalent counts from Education Department data.)
SVCC was one of two community colleges in Virginia recognized on the Honor Roll. The other college is Lord Fairfax Community College.
