Special Blessings group visits shut-ins

Prospect Historical Society members are selling tickets on a 14-inch laptop, $50 gas card and $25 cash prize to be given away the first Tuesday of October. You may purchase a ticket from a member of the society or call 574-6140 or 392-6431. The tickets are $1.
It is exciting to know someone that is 100 or 101 and they are your neighbor or your family. Mrs. Ruth Kelsey Simpson celebrated her 101st birthday with 24 members of her family at Merk’s Place on Aug. 20.
On Aug. 21 a new member joined the family of Mrs. Simpson. Chandler Kelsey Whirley, daughter of Renae and Josh Whirley, granddaughter of Derek and Rebecca Simpson and great-great-granddaughter of Mrs. Ruth K. Simpson. Renae was in attendance of her great-grandmother’s 101st birthday celebration.
Friday morning Mrs. Pat Smith met Mrs. Brenda Walton, of Powhatan, for breakfast at the Cumberland Restaurant.
Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith had dinner at the Cruzin in Keysville. They then went to see their two granddaughters perform at halftime at the Randolph Henry High School football game. Christina is in the marching band, and Brianna is a member of the Color Guard.
Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the birthday celebration for Jennifer Page Bolt on Sunday at the home of Jennifer’s mother, Judy Bolt. Most of the Bolt family were present.
The Special Blessing mission group of Glenn Memorial Baptist Church at Prospect met Aug. 24 to fix gift baskets for shut-ins. They followed this activity with lunch. Those attending were: Evelyn Shelton, Jeannette Tarlton, Judy Mottley, Shirley Mottley and Shirley Fulcher.
Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Vickie Oakes, Barbara Hardinge, Shirley Martin, Hilda Friend, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.
The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship each Sunday. Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be with them on Sunday.
The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you worship Sunday with Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitilin R. Hoy will be at Davis Memorial Sunday.
Calvary Chapel-Farmville, 302 Industrial Park Road, invites you to worship Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and to Wednesday Bible study for all ages at 7 p.m.
