For the first time in The Farmville Herald’s football contest history, a participant has chosen every single game correctly.
Gerald M. Currin Sr., of Lunenburg County, chose all 15 game winners in Week 1 correctly, recently winning $250, and he received $25 for placing first in the contest.
Bill Benninghove, of Appomattox, received the second-place $15 prize.
“It is hard to pick a team (to win) because they are unpredictable. There are some in there that you know absolutely nothing about,” said Currin.
“The only thing you can do is guess at them. I just made some lucky guesses.”
Currin has been participating in the football contest for the past four years.
Before winning this past week, Currin has won the exact score $10 prize once and the first place $25 prize twice in the past two years.
“I really enjoy this contest by the Herald and it is fun to play,” said Currin.
