FARMVILLE — Farmville Mayor David E. Whitus will be the keynote speaker at Longwood University’s convocation ceremony on Thursday afternoon.

The event, which formally celebrates the opening of Longwood annually, will be held at 4 p.m. on Lancaster Mall.

Convocation is a mix of formal and fun with a keynote speaker, faculty awards and the “capping” of seniors by another student. 

Whitus, who graduated from Longwood in 1983, is director of administration, marketing and development at The Woodland, a continuing care facility and regional health care provider.
