The 125th anniversary of HopeTree Family Services, formerly known as Virginia Baptist Children’s Home & Family Services, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2-4 p.m., at its Farmville location on Milnwood Road.
HopeTree Family Services was originally founded as the Baptist Orphanage of Virginia in 1890. HopeTree provides services for at-risk children and youth ranging from an Alternative Education day school to foster care to residential care. HopeTree also operates a state-wide network of 19 group homes for adults with intellectual disabilities. Five of those homes are located in the Richmond area.
The Southside Home on Milnwood Wood in Farmville is the location hosting the Open House. The 125th Anniversary Open House is part of HopeTree’s year-long celebration. HopeTree wishes to take this opportunity to thank supporters from all over the state for making its ministry possible.
There is limited parking at the Southside Home, so those attending are asked to park at Heritage Baptist Church next door, located at 700 Milnwood Drive. A shuttle will be available during the event.
