Hampden-Sydney College soccer is off to one of the best starts in team history with a 5-1 record, and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) pollsters have taken notice with the Tigers receiving one vote in the latest NSCAA South Atlantic Region Poll.
H-SC is the only ODAC team receiving votes, and this is the first time the Tigers have received votes since the 2009 season.
H-SC has won four of its five non-conference games with the lone setback being a double overtime 3-2 loss to Averett, a game that saw the Tigers catch some unlucky breaks with two shots off post in regulation and a last second defensive save at the end of the first overtime.
Hampden-Sydney opened the ODAC schedule this past weekend with an impressive 2-0 win over Shenandoah that rarely ever allowed any threatening possessions from the the Hornets attack.
The Tigers currently rank second in the ODAC in goals per game and shutouts and third in goals against average.
