Fall Garden Symposium set for Sept. 26

The Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners will sponsor a Fall Symposium: The Perfect Garden on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Fuqua School’s Gee Price Center from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
This program is designed to help develop a garden from the ground up. Dr. John M. Galbraith, associate professor of crop and soil environmental science at Virginia Tech, will present “Improving Soil Quality in Your Garden.” Katy Overby, extension agent in Prince Edward County, will present “Right Plant, Right Place, Right Time.” Cynthia Wood, Virginia Cooperative Extension master gardener, will present “Making Friends with Nature.”
Participants will have an opportunity to tour the BayScape Garden at the Prince Edward Extension Office and enjoy exhibits by Master Naturalists, Clean Virginia Waterways and others. Plants and books will be available for purchase, and door prizes will be given. Registration is $25 and includes a boxed lunch. Deadline for registration is Sept. 21.
