Cumberland XC has strong showing in home event

The Cumberland High School boys cross-country team hosted its first and only home meet of the season last week and the Dukes came through with a strong overall performance against three other James River District teams. The Dukes finished in second place with a score of 42 points. They followed Randolph-Henry with 34 points. Nottoway finished in third with 60 points, while Prince Edward took fourth with 96 points.
Individual results were: first place — Matthew Bapties/Cumberland, second place — Jared Halvorsen/Cumberland, third place — Naheim Pettus/Randolph-Henry, fourth place — fourth place Christopher Nichols/Randolph-Henry and fifth place — Fernando Garcia/Nottoway.
The Dukes will travel to Prince Edward for a meet on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
