A 29-year-old Dillwyn woman is facing charges in connection to a stabbing incident reported Saturday on Booker Court near Farmville.

According to Maj. David Wilmoth of the Prince Edward Sheriff’s Office, Velma Shante Ayres was arrested on scene following the incident, reported at 5:54 p.m.

Wilmoth said Ayres allegedly stabbed a 24-year-old male during a domestic incident. She’s being charged with malicious wounding, he said.

The suspect was transported to Piedmont Regional Jail, while the victim was taken to Centra Southside Community Hospital for treatment. The victim sustained puncture wounds, Wilmoth said.

Deputy Brandon Yoder is the investigating officer, Wilmoth said.
