WINGINA — Friends of Buckingham (FOB), a group opposed to the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline, will join groups across West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. for Hands Across Our Land, an event designed to unify citizens interested in protecting and being good stewards of land.
The event, which will be held at the Wingina Bridge on Route 56, is to “symbolically show our efforts to stop the unnecessary and unwanted onslaught of new natural gas infrastructure being forced on thousands of private property owners,” according to a FOB press release.
“We are local citizens and small business owners from every walk of life standing up for our heritage, our culture and our property and communities,” said Chad Oba, an event spokesperson and FOB co-chair.
Dominion is the lead partner in planning the 550-mile natural gas pipeline set to run through Buckingham County.
