A few weeks ago, Cumberland County Sheriff Darrell Hodges (middle) came to the aid of a motorist who lost his load of lumber while traveling along the highway near the courthouse. As Hodges was returning to his office from court, he spotted the situation and quickly ran to help remove the debris from the roadway. Although reloading pickup trucks is not in his job description, it’s one of the many examples of how the sheriff goes above and beyond in serving the residents of Cumberland County. The dispatcher who snapped this photo called him a great man. We agree.
