August 14 — “How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it.”

As we take to the highways in the coming weeks, let us slow down as our children are standing there waiting for the school bus. Drive safely and carefully.

The Prospect Historical Society members are selling tickets on a 14-inch laptop, fifty-dollar gas card and $25 prizes to be given away the first Tuesday of October. You may purchase a ticket from a member of the society; or call 574-6140 or 392-6431. Tickets are $1.

On July 12 Katie Toney and family surprised her father, Lynn Fulcher, with a 60th birthday party at the home of Ms. Shirley Fulcher.

The Special Blessing mission group of Glenn Memorial Baptist Church of Prospect traveled to Trinity Mission Aug. 3 to deliver goody bags. Attending were Shirley Fulcher, Shirley Mottley, Judy Mottley and Jeannette Tarlton.

On Aug. 3 Betty and Don Meadows, Margaret and Richard Stockton, Shirley and George Moore, and Hilda and Scott Friend met at Merk’s Place for breakfast.

On Aug. 5, Jo Smith joined other classmates Shirley Fulcher, Nancy Dickerson, Joyce and Fred Floyd, and Margaret and Richard Stockton for lunch at Applebee’s. Those not able to attend were greatly missed.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Shirley Martin, Hilda Friend, Fred Floyd, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship. The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be with them on Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to worship with; Sunday school is at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitilin Hoy will be with them this Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville, 302 Industrial Park Rd., invites you to worship on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday to  Bible study for all ages at 7 p.m.
