The Southside Virginia Community College welding facility earned the distinction of becoming an American Welding Society Accredited Test Facility in March 2015.

The AWS Accredited Test Facility (ATF) program establishes minimum requirements for test facilities, their personnel and equipment to qualify for accreditation to test, qualify and certify welders. ATFs play an integral part in the operation of the AWS Certified Welding program and have proven that they have the necessary resources to test welders to this nationally recognized and accepted program.

The SVCC welding lab at the John H. Daniel Campus in Keysville was renovated into a state-of-the-art facility in 2012.  David Braun, associate professor of welding and certified welding inspector, is the facility representative and testing supervisor.
