DILLWYN — No one was injured late Thursday night when a man reportedly shot into a home on Route 20 Village Lane.
Investigator A.R. “Tony” Taylor of the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office said the three rounds came from a shotgun at a trailer at 173 Route 20 Village Lane, north of Dillwyn. Several children and an adult were inside during the incident, Taylor said, which was reported at 12:22 a.m. Friday.
The report of shots fired followed a disturbance call involving a man with a handgun at Heritage Acres Apartments, 258 Brickyard Drive in Dillwyn, at 11:27 p.m. Thursday, Taylor said.
He said the people shot at in the home on Route 20 Village Lane “took it upon themselves to go look for the suspect [at Heritage Acres Apartments] because they knew who did it. There was an altercation there earlier in the night where the suspect was beat up by the resident,” Taylor said.
While the shooting is under investigation, a suspect has been identified and is known to the victims, according to Taylor.
Anyone with any information on the shooting incident is urged to contact the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office at (434) 969-1772 or Crimestoppers at (434) 969-4800.
