Editor, The Herald:
The Pamplin Volunteer Fire and EMS will host a poker run and BBQ lunch starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. A raffle for a Mossberg 935 and 12-gauge shotgun will be conducted.
With the difficult economic times that are upon us and the increase in the cost of operations, we again are asking our friends and neighbors of Charlotte, Prince Edward and Appomattox counties for your support.
Along with the cost of operations of the station, we are also experiencing an increase in the cost of training for our personnel and operation of our vehicles. Our ability to continue to provide high-quality emergency needs, fire and medical service depends on your support.
In closing, I would like to thank Pamplin Volunteer Fire and EMS volunteers who dedicate their valuable time providing emergency response and care to the residents of Charlotte, Prince Edward and Appomattox counties.
If you would like to purchase a ticket for the gun raffles please contact any member. The Pamplin Exxon has tickets for $5 each. If you have questions or concerns please call me at (434) 609-6939. Donations can also be made to the Pamplin Fire and EMS, c/o Aug. 1st Event, P.O. Box 1099, Pamplin, VA 23958.
