Longwood men’s golf coach Kevin Fillman announced the addition of Jordan Boulton for the 2015-16 season.
“Jordan is a major find for us,” Fillman said. “Jordan’s posted some low scores on very difficult golf courses and has done so a number of times when his team really needed him to go get it done. He will be a player we’ll count on from the moment he arrives on campus.”
A native of Mansfield, England, Boulton comes to Longwood with an accomplished resume in junior golf. In addition, he has finished among the top 10 in six of the most prestigious junior and amateur events he has played the past two years.
Most recently, Boulton posted a 20th-place finish in the Carris Trophy/English U18 Championships.
In 2013, Boulton posted a runner-up finish at the Midland Youth Championship with a pair of rounds in the 60’s, while finishing in the top-five earlier this year in the same event. He also finished T6 in the 2013 McGregor Trophy/English U16 Championships.
In addition, Boulton has also found success while representing his native England five different times in international competitions at the U16 and U18 levels.
“Jordan’s used to playing in big-time events, much like what he’ll see in college,” Fillman said. “He may have to adjust to some different grasses and quicker green speeds than he’s used to, but, because of his vast experience, I expect him to have a relatively smooth transition.”
Boulton will join fall 2014 signee Adam Szwed on the Lancers roster for the 2015-16 campaign.
