Editor, The Herald:

We, the Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, would like to thank all those who came to our booth to support us during Farmville’s Heart of Virginia Festival. Through our jewelry and raffle sales we were able to contribute to some of the projects which are near and dear to our hearts:

• Semper Fi Fund, which provides immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. armed forces and their families.

• Ferry Farm, the boyhood home of George Washington. The DAR is helping to restore one of the rooms in this house.

• Local essay programs. The DAR sponsors essay contests for children attending Cumberland County Schools, Fuqua School, New Life Schools and Prince Edward County Schools.

• Crossnore School, a DAR-supported school, is a residential foster care group home for severely neglected, maltreated and abused children in North Carolina.

Thank you for your generosity.
