Prince Edward County High School graduating seniors Triston Smith and Rachael  McDermott earned the top two academic spots in the class of 2015. Smith, the son of Edna Smith and the grandson of Hettie and Alton Smith, was valedictorian, while McDermott, the daughter of Pam and Mike McDermott, was salutatorian. Both attended the Governor’s School of Southside Virginia, earning associate degrees from Southside Virginia Community College. Triston will attend the University of Virginia on a full four-year Ridley Scholars Fellowship. Rachael will attend Shenandoah University where she plans to major in Dance.
