Out With The Old, In With The New?

A striking, Charleston Green storefront once again graces North Main Street, hearkening back to the infancy of Green Front Furniture. Pictured above, the restoration of Green Front’s Building One was revealed to the public on May 28 after eight months of renovation. The flagship store’s “new” design is master artisan Al Buczek’s take on the original Mesker-inspired style of the building, which was removed and replaced with the familiar stucco in the 1960s. Regarding the revamping of the historic design, Buczek said, “There is a rich base of people who appreciate the old and historic here. We have a beautiful town. If it were not for those who see that importance, all we’d have is parking lots and big-box stores.” Clearly, the classics aren’t going out of style anytime soon. (Photo by Kaitlin O’Brien)
