DILLWYN, June 16 — Odelle Dunevant Claiborne, 91, of Dillwyn, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 12, 2015 as she passed peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at her daughter’s home in Andersonville. She was born September 29, 1923, the only daughter of Burtron Marion Dunevant and Lelia Rosen Dunevant. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of many years Robert Irving Claiborne of Dillwyn.

Mrs. Claiborne is survived by her only child, Jane Claiborne Falls; three grandchildren, Lelia Falls Lewis, Jaime Falls Kidd and her husband, Donnie Kidd, and Talon R. Duty; six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Joshua and Emma Seay, Donald Jr. (DJ), Sophia and Riley Odelle Kidd; and a very loving and devoted family member and special friend Katie Scruggs, her husband Brandon and their three children, Emily, Hunter and Autumn Scruggs all of Dillwyn.

She was an active member of Enon Baptist Church and played the piano for church services for many years until her recent illness. She loved her music and over the years played for countless church services, revivals, weddings, and funerals throughout Buckingham County.

Mrs. Claiborne was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a friend to many and will always be remembered for her loving and kind ways.

The family would like to thank those who have shown love and kindness to her over the years. They also would like to thank her doctor, Dr. Williams, Home Health, the Hospice workers, Pastor Billy Swan and those who came forth to help when needed.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 19 at 10 a.m. at Enon Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home.
