FARMVILLE — A Sunday afternoon fire destroyed a shed at Longwood University’s golf course, a university spokesman said.

The fire occurred at the golf course near Johnston Drive and Milnwood Road in Farmville, spokesman Matt McWilliams said.

A shed that houses golf carts burned, McWilliams reported. It was a total loss, he said.

McWilliams was unaware of any injuries. Firefighters from Hampden-Sydney, Farmville, Meherrin and Rice responded. There was limited damage other than the shed itself, according to McWilliams, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A golfer saw smoke and reported the fire, according to McWilliams.
