BUCKINGHAM — A home on U.S. Route 60 in Buckingham County was destroyed Sunday night in a fire that summoned three fire companies.
According to Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Tim Farrar, the fire was reported at approximately 7:18 p.m. at 17809 E. James Anderson Highway.
The ranch-style house hadn’t been occupied in about two years, Farrar said.
“It was fully engulfed when we got there,” he said.
Farrar considered the home a total loss, noting that an adjacent home was also damaged. “And then there was some minor damage to the home next to it … some exterior damage.”
“We’re not sure what caused it yet,” he said.
Farrar said he didn’t think the fire was suspicious in nature.
No one was injured.
Along with Dillwyn, Toga and Arvonia volunteer fire departments responded to the scene.
