A Dillwyn woman has been charged in connection with a reported residential breaking and entering in the 100 block of Culberth Street in Dillwyn.
According to an email from Buckingham Sheriff William G. “Billy” Kidd Jr., Sarah Jane Vernon was arrested in connection with the incident, which was reported Thursday, May 28.
Eight rings, valued at about $2,000, were reported stolen from the residence, Kidd said.
“Apparently [there was] nothing broken…They just walked in,” he said of the burglar gaining access to the home. Kidd couldn’t confirm whether the rings had been recovered.
The arrest of Vernon cleared the incident, Kidd said.
According to Kidd and the Virginia General District Court Online Case Information System, Vernon is charged with grand larceny.
“[I] appreciate the deputy’s diligence in following it through,” Kidd said of the investigation. “It’s a good idea for everybody to maybe take photographs and write down serial numbers of all their things that might be stolen and have some kind of record of it so you can identify it in the future.”
