Emma Carwile, fourth grade student in Mrs. Jennifer Townsend’s class, and Emily Hafertepen, below, fourth grade student in Mr. Gubash’s class, were honored at the local chapter meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution for their writing. Emily placed second in the local competition, and Emma placed first with their essays on the topic “What the Flag Means to Me.”  Both girls advanced to the state level, where Emily placed second.  Both girls were recognized by PECPS Superintendent Dr. K. David Smith at a recent school board meeting.
