DILLWYN — The Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported breaking and entering that occurred at Seay and Haver Oil Co. on Oak Street in Dillwyn, according to Sheriff William G. “Billy” Kidd Jr.
The incident was reported Saturday, May 30 at about 8 a.m. when employees arrived at the business, Kidd said.
“Apparently it happened Friday night is what I can gather,” Kidd said, noting that access was gained by forced entry.
The business’ office had been ransacked and the cash register was found on the floor, the sheriff explained.
A rear window had been broken, “but there were bars on the window preventing entry,” Kidd said. “[The] north side door leading into the tire storage room had been pried open.”
Kidd said $130 was stolen from the cash register, along with two books of state inspection stickers.
No suspects have been identified, he said.
Kidd encouraged anyone with information on the incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 434-969-1772 or Crime Stoppers at 434-969-4800.
