MAY 26 — Pinkey Byrd Baldwin III, 64, was born on September 12, 1950 in Farmville and met the Lord on Saturday, May 23, 2015 in his home, surrounded by family and friends. And although his life here on earth is over, his life in heaven with his beloved Savior Jesus Christ has just begun. We rejoice because he gave us so much during his life with us – and we praise God that his life of no pain, no concerns, no doubts, and no lack of understanding has begun with our God in his new home.
Pinkey (Mr. Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad as he was known) was a life member of the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad where he gave his service for over 14 years. He registered over 3100 calls and in 1982 he went on over 725 calls accounting for over 75% of all the calls that year. He held the offices of Secretary, Training Officer and Captain as well as being Squad Man of the year on numerous occasions and the Jaycees Squad Man of the year. He was an employee of Longwood University for nearly 42 years, and a member of Worsham Baptist Church.
Mr. Baldwin was a devoted husband of 45 years and is survived by his high school sweetheart, Brenda; a father of two sons, Peewee (Ellen) and John (Juliet); a grandfather to Timothy, John, and Weston; a servant and friend to all who knew him, and a lover of the Lord. His life impacted all of those who had the opportunity to know him, and his love for Christ was exemplified in all that he did.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday (tonight), May 26 from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment to follow at Worsham Baptist Church Cemetery.
