Hazel Pipjunge Speas, 89

CUMBERLAND, May 19 — Hazel Pipjunge Speas, 89, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015. She was born in Cumberland to the late Albert F. and Lizzy Dowdy Pipjunge on July 22, 1925. She was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Speas worked for Western Union in Richmond before she and her husband moved to Cumberland and purchased the Cumberland Restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay A. Speas, and is survived by her daughters, Beverly Speas of Cumberland and Barbara Speas of Cumberland; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters and a brother.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 20 from 6 p.m.–8 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 21 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Rescue Squad.
