Happy birthday wishes go out to Bernice Baird and Ray Martin, both of Dillwyn, Todd Worley, of Cumberland, and Nancy Fairchild, of New Canton, all celebrating on Friday, April 24, Junior Midkiff, of Cumberland, celebrating on Saturday, April 25; Doris Roberts, of New Canton, and Caroline Martin, of Dillwyn, daughter of Toney and Rebecca Martin, celebrating on Tuesday, April 28.
Congratulations to Nat and Donna Cooke of Cartersville. They will be celebrating their wedding anniversary on Wednesday, April 29.
Jones Chapel Baptist Church in Cumberland held a special Ordination Service on Sunday, April 18. There were two new ordained deacons, Michael Parker and his brother Dennis Parker, both of Cumberland. Their mother, Annie May Lightfoot Parker said by phone on Sunday evening, “I am proud of my two sons and their dedication to the Lord.”
Welcome home to Mike Boyles of Cumberland who spent sometime in the hospital.

Pastor Reed Goe and the congregation at Welcome Wesleyan Church in New Canton would like to thank those who made their pork barbeque sale a sell out on Saturday, April 18. Thanks to all who helped with the preparations before and after.
Reminder: The Annual “Heart of Virginia Festival” will be held on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All are invited to come out and join the fun with lots of arts and crafts, food and more.

All are also welcome to come out and join the 19th Annual Powhatan Antique Power Show Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., located on Academy Road Powhatan. Scheduled activities include tractor pull, live entertainment, Jonathan “The Juggler,” yard sales, crafts, great food and lots of activities for children.
The gate admission per day is $5 for adults, children two to 12 years $2 and under two free. All proceeds benefit the local Ruby Leonard Food Pantry.
