Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Tabitha Gough, of Winginia, celebrating on Friday, February 13; Wayne Davenport, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Saturday, February 14; Ashley Tolliver Baird, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Sunday, February 15; Sherry Scott, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Tuesday, February 17; and Wayne Lipscomb, of Cumberland, celebrating on Thursday, February 19.

Happy Anniversary wishes are sent out to Wayne and Tempy Davenport, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Saturday, February 14, Mike and Joy Yoder, of Cumberland, celebrating on Monday, February 16; and Pastor Gene and Peggy Johnson, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Tuesday, February 17.

Sandra Ownby and Annie May Miles, both of Dillwyn, visited in the homes of Mary Martin and family in Cumberland and James and Virginia Boyles, also of Cumberland, on Sunday afternoon, February 8.

Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, Susie Taylor, of Dillwyn, and Patricia Woodfin, of New Canton, all enjoyed an evening meal at a Charlottesville restaurant on Monday, February 9.

Spreading God’s Gifts Inc. would like to thank the sponsors, volunteers and all those who attended the annual Sweetheart Banquet held on Saturday, February 7.

Spreading God’s Gifts Inc. is a non-profit organization serving Buckingham and surrounding areas in their time of need. They will be hosting (weather permitting) a supper on Tuesday, February 17 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Browns Chapel United Methodist Church, located off of U.S. Route 15 north of Dillwyn on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Rd.). The menu includes soup and chili with crackers, grilled cheese sandwiches, and a drink. The public is cordially invited to attend for a time of fellowship. Loaves of Love food pantry is operated by the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cartersville. This food pantry is designed for Cumberland County residents, which includes Cartersville. The next food distrubtion will be held Sunday, February 22 from 2-3 p.m. for those 60 and older and disabled veterans; then from 3- p.m. there will be a distrubtion for those 59 years and younger. Recipients qualify under age 59 based on employment and income. Individuals must bring in two forms of ID. A photo ID and proof that they reside in Cumberland (such as an electric bill, tax bill or voter ID). For further information, contact Jessica at 804-512-7547 or Barry at 804-492-5806.
