BUCKINGHAM — Although they gave their fans an exciting performance on their home court, the Buckingham County High School varsity boys basketball team fell 70-60 to the Randolph-Henry High School Statesmen on Tuesday, December 9. With the loss, the Knights drop to 0-1 in their season.

Randolph-Henry began the night with their sharp shooting and quick rebounding. They ran a fast-paced offense and, at first, Buckingham could not keep up with them. The Knights attempted to catch up with the Statesmen during the entire first quarter. However, they trailed by at least 10 points behind R-H the entire quarter.

Returning in the second quarter, the Knights stepped up their game and began to give the Statesmen a run for their money. They went point for point with Randolph-Henry and even outscored them, 21-12, before half-time hit. The Statesmen led by only one point (36-35) entering half-time. The Knights continued pushing forward in the third quarter, where they outscored R-H, 15-13, and stole the lead. However, the Statesmen managed to take their playing to the next level in the fourth quarter. They broke through BCHS' defense and outscored the Knights, 21-10, to win the game.
